No good vacation goes unpunished. 🫠

You forgot ALL the extra work you cram into the week before you leave so you'll be caught up. The universe is aware you have left a void and is only too happy to fill it while you're gone.

This is why I always check my email when on vacation. Sadly.

Always sort your inbox by conversation, always start from the most recent message, and work your way backwards.

It was amazing how many 85 message long threads I'd find after returning from a week off. I'd read the most recent message, see that the final decision was to use option C, and I could ignore the 84 prior messages debating options A, B, and C.

When you're seeing email chains that have been running for a month with no resolution, most of them become novels, and you only have to read the most recent ones.

Meanwhile, my manager routinely had a number like 4268 unread messages. If you don't have your inbox under control, you don't have your job under control, either.

Try two weeks vacation followed by two weeks notice I hear they pair well together

Feeling ALL of this. The last thing I want to do after a vacation is come back to work.
