Really like the smile in the end. Surely, made me smile wide too :D

I always used the five year rule.

As in, five years from now, will I look back on this and say "boy, I'm glad I spent the long weekend in the office, rather than playing tennis with my friends like I'd originally planned to"?

There are actually have been cases where I did, but they were extremely rare. Yes, I'm glad that I and three co-workers stayed until 3AM remotely debugging one of our products that was failing on the other side of the world, because it could have resulted in the deaths of three or more people.

The other 99.995% of the time, however, work crises are not only artificial, they're often irrelevant, as well. How many times have you worked in a mad panic to make a deadline, only to see it then be put on a shelf and ignored for days, weeks, or months?

One of those. Hard one to learn... But once you do... Pretty freeing : )

Not to say, you should not pay attention and don't worry about things, but the level at which you no longer stress your self out unreasonably is a huge win.
