Never ask a question if you don't want to hear the answer.

HR sent out one of those "what's the best thing about your job/why do you work here" questionnaires. The most common answer, by far, was "I need the money".

HR was unhappy so, they sent out another questionnaire, asking more detailed questions, and didn't include money in the list of options. Employees wrote it in anyway.

Since they didn't get the answers they wanted, they held an all hands meeting in person, where they asked people directly. The first person they asked, they told him to *not* say money in his answer. He thought about it for a second, and said "I have a mortgage I have to pay". Other answers included "pay off debt", and "feed my family".

By about the eighth person, the exasperated PR person finally said "You people aren't understanding the question. Money is a reason to get A job, but it's not a reason to get a SPECIFIC job. We all need money, of course, by why did you choose to work HERE? You're all making it sound like you would have taken a job anywhere, and there's nothing special about our company at all".

"Yeah, pretty much", one guy said, as everyone in the room nodded in agreement.

The meeting was dismissed, and there were no more questionnaires.
