There was a hiring blitz at one company, and one time at lunch, I happened to sit next to a very depressed HR person who'd been interviewing candidates.
Normally HR complains about the quality of candidates, but not in this company. HR always touted the company as "leading edge", "market leader", and bragged incessantly about how cutting edge we were, and they just couldn't understand the cynicism of the employees.
After a dozen interviews, the HR person said that the primary reason that most candidates were interested was because they felt they weren't stagnant at their current company; they were tired of working with old technology, and wanted to move forward.
"But when I showed them what we have, they all told me that we're a decade behind what they've got at their current job, and turned us down".
TIL I used to work for Acme Corp! 🤣

The HR bubble can be real, folks.
