I once worked at a place where an unpaid 30-minute lunch was built into our workdays, so we "officially" had 37.5-hour weeks, allowing us to be paid hourly.
They upgraded us to 40-hour work weeks, making us salaried but expected to work free overtime, but didn't want to pay us any different at first. Fortunately we saw through the scam.
I used to come into work early. Half hour to an hour early. But I would leave on time.
At two different companies I got shit about that. They wanted me to 'stay late', even though I was THERE when they all showed up and did more work than anybody else.
I wish I could say this is unimaginable. But I do have some memories...
Very relatable, however when it comes to senior staff he suddenly becomes blind and deaf 🤬
Living this

First time I put up with it. Second time I quit.
